Look carefully at this picture. It shows the River Thaw following its original course and flowing underneath the road and down alongside the road taking you to the Limes area of Cowbridge. During bad weather, often lots of floods, so the river had its course altered to the course it follows today in 1911.

The pirate in the darker coloured clothing is Mrs Gladys Clinton. Believe the float was entered by the CADS (Cowbridge Amateur Dramatics Society) of which Gladys had been a member for many years.

The Cowbridge Branch of the Royal British Legion was originally housed in what had been the old Railway Station, situated on what is now part of the Druids Green Housing Estate, Eastgate, Cowbridge. The station was knocked down to build the housing estate, and a new building had been built alongside the River Thaw behind the Town Hall. Sadly that too is no longer with us.
